We solve: How to develop your company's innovation capacity
Innovation is important for the development of Finland's economy and society, but it is particularly important for small and medium-sized enterprises, which make up a large part of our economy. In Satakunta, where traditional industry is a major source of employment and a driving force of the economy, innovation is also essential for business growth, competitiveness and sustainable development.
Innovation is a key force in the development of society and the economy. SMEs make up a large part of Finland's business landscape and their innovations can create new jobs, boost production and accelerate economic growth. We also need continuous innovation to meet the challenges of globalisation and technological development. In addition, many SMEs play an important role in the local economy. Through innovation, these companies can create something new and improve the vitality of regions, thus balancing economic development in different parts of Finland.
The Innovation Bridge project will examine the innovation capacity of SMEs in Satakunta, Seinäjoki and Kokkola regions. The project focuses on strengthening the innovation capacity of SMEs and on the commercialisation of project results from universities of applied sciences.
Through the innovation capability mapping, targeted training will be created that will benefit the enterprises and enable them to strengthen their own innovation capability. This will improve their short-term competitiveness and lay the foundations for long-term growth. Overall, the project will strengthen Finland's innovation ecosystem.
The Innovation Bridge project used an RDI tool to assess innovation capability, focusing on six main areas: technology, knowledge, networks, customers and markets, innovation vision and processes.
Technology is a key factor, as the adoption and application of new technologies enable more efficient and competitive products and services. Competences relate to the skills needed to develop and exploit new ideas, both for employees and management. Networks are important because cooperation with other companies, universities and research institutes creates opportunities for innovation and dissemination. Customers and markets drive innovation - customer-driven development ensures that new products and services meet real demand. The innovation vision guides the strategic direction of the company, setting a long-term goal for innovation development. Finally, well-functioning processes support the flow of innovation, ensure efficient use of resources and promote the implementation of new ideas.
The results of the Innovation Capability Assessment will be published in late 2024.
